"The Inventory of your L[ordship's] plate, napery, wardrobe stuffe and other Implimentes of howfseholde in your L. howsse called Leycester howfse in London, taken the XVIIIth of July, 1580". The inventory includes "Weapons", Musical Instruments, Pictures, "Cardes or Mappes", Books, Robes of Creation, etc. Among the pictures are portraits of Henry VIII., Qu. Mary, Qu. Elizabeth, "the Kinge of Scottes that nowe is" [James VI] and "the Kinge of Scottes, [Henry, Lord Darnley], my Ld. of Lennes [Lennox's] sonne", "a table of the murder of the K. of Scottes", "the pourtraictures of the Quenes Matie and my L. cut in alabllaster", etc, the whole number being 42.
The books are 20 in number, consisting of a Bible "covered with yellowe lether" 14 Service-books mostly bound in red leather and stamped with the Earl of Leicester's arms or "the beare and ragged staffe", 4 books of Statutes, and a Book of Pleas of the crown.
Among the maps, etc, are Maps of France, the "Northe parte of Englande", the counties of Oxford, Bucks and Berks, of co. Denbigh, and of cos. Norfolk and Suffolk, "a carde of all the worlde made lyke a booke", and "globes ii, given by Thomas Fowler".
