1. J. Dudley, on affairs in New England, "notwithstanding the constant Incursions of the French and Indians our neighbours, these provinces have been so secured by the constant marches of our men both winter and summer that we have not lost one village" etc. Boston, 15 Nov. 1710. f.12.
2. Rev. George Smalridge, asking Lord Weymouth to further the candidature of "Mr Hinton who assists ye Dean of Carlisle at Bridewell" for the "Preacher's place at Bridewell when there shall be a vacancy": 12 Jan. 1710[11]. f.71.
3. Arthur Charlett, Master of University College: (a) on Oxford affairs - that "the third side on the east side of Peckwater Quadrangle begins to rise with great vigor and beauty" - that Queens are building over against his door in the High Street "in a more magnificent manner than any Former Buildings", etc. Univ. College 19 Jan. 1710[11]. f.81: (b) on the same subject, "Tho our Buildings rise very high, I hope Dr Bathurst's motto may be true, surgunt moenia, nec ruunt mores": & Feb. 1710[11]. f.95: (c) on the conferring of a degree of M.A. on "the worthy sufferer and confessor, Mr Greensheilds, in consideration of his Firme and steady adherence to the Episcopal cause, and Liturgy in Scotland:" Hambledon, 3 May, 1711. f. 142.
4. Robert Booth, Dean of Bristol: (a) that he has endeavoured to "settle the Cathedral service" there, and brought it into good order "so that the publick worship of God is performed with some solemnity", but that he has hard work to subsist on his Dean's salary about £200 per annum, and asks that he may have some preferment: Bristol 21 Feb. 1710[11]. f.106: (b) thanking Lord Weymouth for his reply and speaks of his difficulties "for one halfe of my Brethren are professed enemies to Choir service": Bristol, 5 Mar. 1710[11]. f.107.
5. Willm. Stawell], Baron Stawell: (a) on Court matters, "The Queen ...... gets up and Hunts att five in the morning", that Lord Jersey is mentioned for the Seals, etc. Hartley, 19 Aug. 1711. f.162: (b) "its now sayd the Duke or Shrowsberry will have the seals which is so great a desappointment to Ld. Abingdon, that he will quit his being Lord Chiefe Justice in Air": Hartley, 25 Aug. 1711. f.167: (c) that he has been at Windsor "where they say there has been great misunderstandings amongst the great men": Hartley, 6 Sept. 1711. f.180: (d) that he wishes well to "the Peace" but is resolved to "spend no money about it", mentions "the misfortune" at Quebec etc.
Overton, 24 Oct. 1711. f.196: (e) that he is devoting himself to farming, his interest at Court having died with Lord Rochester: Hartley, 20 Jan. 1711[2]. f.203: (f) that he is recovering from the gout but that his feet are so weak that he needs "a white staffe" to support him.......
"The news of Count Guiscards unaccountable proceedings has alarmed the Country": Hartley, 13 Mar. 1711[2]. f.200
