These records were deposited in three groups, the first in 1983 via United Norwest Co-op, the second and third by a former employee via Mr White in 1997 and 1999. Apart from one ledger, no records for the society's education department or womens' guild have been deposited.

This Society was established in January 1865, and amalgamated with the Bury Society [see GCO] in 1969. The main store was at 5 Green Street, with a branch in Tottington Road and the society also built and rented out properties in Mitchell Street and Co-operative Terrace. There were just under 800 members in the 1920's.
