Title
Inland Revenue Valuation Domesdey Books, East Suffolk
Description

The Registers of Duties on Land Values (commonly called 'Domesday Books') were created by Board of Inland Revenue Valuation Offices under the Finance (1909-10) Act, 1910. A parallel series of Field Books, being the Valuation Officer's survey notes (occasionally giving fuller descriptive information) is preserved at the Public Record Office, Kew (class IR 58).

[Where the Record Sheet maps are now (1991) held].

It should be noted that the Suffolk Record Office (Ipswich Branch) does not hold any of the working sheet maps referred to in the Registers, since the maps have not survived for the East Suffolk area. However, the location of property is to some extent indicated by the quotation of O.S. 1/2500 series sheet references, and a near-complete set of the Second Edition (1903-5) is available in the Search Room.

Registers relating to the Norfolk portion of the Lowestoft Valuation District have been transferred to the Norfolk Record Office, Central Library, Norwich.
