Description (What the record is about)
-
The boundaries of the ancient borough and parish of Poole were first altered by the Municipal Boundary Act 1832 (2 & 3 Wm IV c64), when the parish of Hamworthy and the tithings of Longfleet and Parkstone were added.
The borough was subsequently extended by the Local Government Board Provisional Order of 1905 to include Branksome Urban District and the civil parishes of Hamworthy, Longfleet and Parkstone. By the Dorsetshire Review Order 1933 part of Poole Rural District was added.
The division has continued to enjoy jurisdiction over the extent of the borough boundaries.
