Description

Apprenticeship indentures and assignments of indentures, not relating to any charity.

f.1. 17 [undated]. Apprenticeship indenture, the writing of which is too faded to obtain any information from; except the name of John Greenaway in the bottom right hand corner.

f.2. 18 Dec. 1759. Apprenticeship indenture, the writing of which is so faded that only the date is legible. This indenture was presumably cancelled; as the top right hand corner has been cut away.

f.3. 7 May 1780. Apprenticeship indenture, the writing of which is faded, the only information being legible is the name, Benjamin Butterworth on the bottom left hand corner and the date.

f.4. 2 Sept. 1785. James Colley, son-in-law of John Colley of Coventry, tailor; to Samuel Vale, George Howlette and Co. of Coventry, watchmakers and partners.

f.5. 13 June 1791. W. Oakden, son of Sarah Oakden of Daventry, widow; to Benjamin [illegible] of Coventry, tailor and draper, for a premium of £52.10s.

f.6. 6 Dec. 1796. John Harris, junior to [name and trade of the master illegible].

f.7. 13 May 1806. James Fenton, son of James Fenton of Coventry; to William Jolley of Coventry, watch finisher, for £11, yearly, paid by the master to the apprentice.

f.8. 24 Dec. 1806. Mary Booth, daughter of Thomas Booth of Coventry, coal dealer; to Rebecca and Elizabeth Minster of Coventry, dressmakers and milliners for premium of £8.

ff.9.10. 31 July 1813. Assignment of an indenture dated 30 June 1812 of Eli Kirby to Edward Harburn of Coventry, weaver; to Isaac Brown of Coventry, weaver. Thomas Wormald of Coventry, watchmaker; covenanting with Isaac Brown to provide Eli Kirby with food, lodgings etc. This assignment has been cancelled, the bottom right hand corner being cut out and a note re the cancellation on 31 July 1813 being made in f.10.v.

f.11. 17 June 1816. Charles Shakespear son of Charles Shakespear of Sowe in the County of the City of Coventry, weaver; to Edward Watson of Coventry, silkman to be apprenticed as a weaver.

ff.12, 13. 13 July 1818. Assignment of the apprenticeship indenture dated 21 Feb. 1818 of Charles Roe son of John Roe of Coventry, watchmaker; to James Pegg of Coventry, weaver; to Thomas Pegg of Coventry, weaver (deleted and dyer written above in pencil), for the residue of the period of time, six years, nine months and eleven days (two years ten months written in pencil above).

f.14. 20 Feb. 1822. John Shenton, son of Thomas Shenton of Coventry, weaver to his father, for £3 premium paid by the trustees of [name not written in] Charity.

f.15. 27 June 1823. Thomas Goode, son of Joseph Goode of Keresley in the County of the City of Coventry, cordwainer; to Edward Farr of Coventry, cordwainer. This indenture has had the bottom right hand corner cut away and was therefore cancelled as a note, re cancellation dated 11 Feb. 1824 is endorsed.

f.18. 14 Feb. 1831. William Green son of Joseph Green of Coventry, weaver; to his father, with the consent of the trustees of Collins Charity for a premium of £6.
