Description (What the record is about)
-
Tramocars was incorporated in 1932, and for the next six years was owned and operated at Worthing by Walter R Gates. In spite of the name, the Company ran public service omnibuses locally, rather than tramcars on rails, but the vehicles were of an unusual type which looked like tramcars, had very small wheels (and slow speed), and tiller steering. Unfortunately the records here are very formal an uninformative about operational matters. The Company was bought out by Southdown Motor Services Ltd. in 1938, and went into voluntary liquidation. For copy agreements, etc., 1932-8 see SMS/1/24/5, pp. B93 and G10-29
