Description

Abhisarikha Nayika. Punjab Plains, Kangra style, early 20th century. Presented 1941. Gouache with gold; floral and green borders. 227 by 149 mm; page 290 by 213 mm. A lady braves serpents and the terrors of the night forest to meet her lover. A 'churel,' the ghost of a pregnant woman, peers from a tree.
