This sets out on one side receipts, from sale of farm e.g. horses, sheep, beasts, barley wheat, pigs, hides, produce plus an allowance for foodstuffs used in the house, also from the cottagers 1757-1758 on the other side stewards' or agents' bills, totals only, total for servants' wages, other bills, bills in London
There are also some corn accounts and receipts from his livings
After an audit of these 1753-1759, there is added further receipts, from his living at Hykeham, his sister Mary, interest on loans, remains of his fortune, two legacies and the sale of reversionary estates left by his cousin Thomas Price, a note that his Silk Willoughby living is not entered as the expenses exceed the receipts
It is not clear to what farms these accountd relate. He did not succeed to his brother's estates till 1767

There follows a general abstract of account. For receipts this has "from my own farm", from the tenants (totals) in Redbourne, Pickworth, Kingerby, Hibaldstow, Kirton Lindsey, Waddingham, Snitterby, Welsh estates, Caistor prebend, Waddingham living, Broughton living, interest due from Sir John Nelthorpe and other persons, from the funds
Disbursements become more detailed and varied. There are payments for building and furniture especially from 1771-1775 including £25 to Mr. Carr architect. He does not always specify the property for which these payments are made. Regular payments to his wife are noted My dear Charlotte Carter (later M.D.C.C., M.D.C.C.T. after the name Thelwall was added) on account of his daughter Charlotte for masters, music, for journeys to London, Wales, "Burlington", Holland tour, he took a house in Edinburgh for 6 months and made payments for law, especially Scotland £230 5s., ditto England £100, with the comment "infamous" Farm accounts and reference to stock and crops continue
The whole account comprises personal estate and household expenditure and receipts, classified
