Microfilm copy of an ms letter to his family (55pp) and an ms account (19pp), both written in September 1945 on board the troopship EKMA during his repatriation to India, describing aspects of his life as a prisoner of war in Singapore in Changi, Keppel Harbour and River Valley Road camps (February 1942 - May 1943), with H Force on the Burma-Siam railway, mainly in the camps at Tonchan, Hintok and Kanchanaburi (May - December 1943) and back in Singapore in Sime Road camp (December 1943 - May 1944) and Changi Goal (May 1944 - August 1945) and principally commenting on the increasing inadequacy of the prisoners' rations and its extremely adverse effect on their health, the appalling conditions on the Burma-Siam railway, Japanese ill-treatment of Indian prisoners, secret wireless sites in the camps, the output of camp workshops, the long delays in the arrival of mail and his low opinion of the RAPWI organisation. Weale was serving as an RIASC officer attached to the 11th Indian Division when he was taken prisoner on the fall of Singapore.
