A collection of letters written and received by Samuel Hennell, Resident in the Persian Gulf at Bushire, in 1850. Other correspondents include Arnold Burrowes Kemball, Acting Political Agent in Turkish Arabia, and Arthur Malet, Chief Secretary to the Government at Bombay. The topics covered in the letters include: the evacuation of British merchants from Bushire; the separation of the town and district of Bussorah [Basra] from the Pashalie; death notices; a marriage certificate; and the plans of Rowland Macdonald Stephenson, Managing Director of the Calcutta Railway, for a railway from Europe through Turkey, Asia Minor, Persia, to the Indus.

- Pagination: There is a pagination sequence written in ink in the top right corner of the rectos and the top left corner of the versos. Not every page is paginated and the sequence is inconsistent. Foliation: This file has one foliation sequence which is circled in pencil and appears in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio. It starts on the front cover on 1A and ends on the inside of the back cover on 17. It should be noted that 1A is followed by 1B and then resumes on 2. Condition: Some of the pages are fragile and should be handled with care.
