Now in Membury, he was born in Stockland where his parents belonged he is now 25, when he was 16 he came to Axminster and agreed with Mr William Henly, cordwainer to the learn the trade, he served 4 years but with no formal agreement, he then went to Stockland, married and rented a house at 50s a year for 2 or 3 years, he then went to Bath for 2 years working as a journeyman for different cordwainers, then Taunton for 1 ½ years as a journeyman, he then came to Membury and has worked as a cordwainer
