Description (What the record is about)
-
The original of the Harison diary (AMS6582/1) was brought to Folkington Place in the 1970s by a lady from Brighton whose name was not recorded at the time. She allowed it to be copied, but six openings were missed
Inside the front cover, in a hand of c1900, is written: 'journal of William Harison of Folkington my great uncle; E Cockburn, 29 Grafton Road, Acton W'. It is possible that E Cockburn was Edith, the daughter of William Thomas Harison of Sutton in Seaford, William Harison's nephew. But the relationship has not been proved, and there are many other lines of descent. For a pedigree of the Harison family, 1854, see Mark Anthony Lower, Memorials of ... ... Seaford (1855) 60-61
The transcript of 'Country Magazine' (AMS6582/3) is not dated, but if 'Josh' Bradford, who says that his age is 55, is the Jocelyn Bradford married at Wilmington on 25 January 1919 at the age of 23 (PAR 510/1/3/2 entry 129), then the programme would have been broadcast in 1950
