- <p>The Berney family, settled at Reedham in the 14th century, is one of the oldest landowning families in Norfolk. The Berneys of Hockering (but previously of Swardeston, Bracon Ash and Morton) are descended from Sir Thomas Berney (d. 1616) of Reedham, and the family retained land at Reedham into the 19th century</p>
