Title
John Dicken writes to the Hon. Richard Hill at Eaton College near Windsor.
Date
Drayton, 6th May, 1722
Description

The house purchased of Mr. Henshaw should be kept in good repair, for it will make a good house to Griffith's tenement, when the lease of the existing house to the farm, which is but for one old life, falls in. The new purchased tenement is all now let for £28.

D. will get as much money as he can in from the tenants to pay Mr. Chettoe for the purchase on Whit Thursday.

He gives an account of the business at Whitchurch, involving a bill against Hill's tenant, by which he is forced to pay 2/- in the pound for herbage, of what was grazed by unprofitable cattle. Hill's property in Whitchurch consists of some small crofts of about 10 or 12 acres.

An estate, near Wem, late Sir Thomas Addams' is to be sold.

Tho. Shore has complained that William Brougham has left his holding, taking away doors, windows, and window shutters. He should be punished for this, because the contract was that things should be left in tenantable repair "& these things were done of mere malice and spight because Shore intends to move into that house". John Griffiths' house must be repaired, and a new chimney built. Dicken has bespoken 1,200 bricks to be built upon the Common. Post Script. He goes to Hawkestone tomorrow & as soon as he can, will send a rent-roll.
