Manuscript volume complied by Leonard Wheatcroft (1627-1706)
Contains:
1) Poetry composed by Wheatcroft and some 'crosticks'
2) 'Love lessons' on how to win the heart of the coyest damsel in the world, account of visit to London, writings relating to Wheatcroft's courtship of Elizabeth Hawly of Winster including his correspondence with her and further poetry.
Volume includes occasional signatures of other later members of the family, including Titus, Leonard's youngest son, who noted that he had been [parish] clerk from his father's death in 1706 until 1752.
The book is chiefly 17th century.
