Assignment: Samuel Barker of London, esq., late of Lyndon, co. Rutland, cousin and administrator of Sir Thomas Barker, late of London, bart., deceased, of the first part, Jon Sharpe of Wing, co. Rutland, esq., executor of the will of Henry Hubbard, late of Laugham, co. Rutland, esq., deceased, of the second part, and William Whiston of London, clerk, of the third part: recites a deed dated 24th May 1694 whereby said Sir Thomas Barker mortgaged for £600 to John de la Fontaine lands in LYNDON, to hold for 200 years redeemable for £630, which was not repaid at the specified times, the estate thereby becoming absolute in said John; also a deed of assignment dated 24th February 1717, whereby, for £630 paid by Samuel Barker, Matthew Johnson of Withcot, co. Leicester, esq., executor of the will of said John de la Fontaine, assigned to Lancelot Dawes of Lyndon, in trust for said Samuel, the said premises in LYNDON, to hold for the residue of 200 years; also another deed dated 20th March 1717 whereby, for £500 paid to said Samuel Barker, said Lancelot Dawes mortgaged the premises to said Henry Hubbard, to hold for residue of 200 years and redeemable for £525; whereas said John Sharpe, executor of will of Henry Hubbard, on 28th March last past received from said Samuel the principal of £500 and interest due, and Samuel has occasion to borrow the sum of £500 and has applied to said William Whiston to lend him that amount, now, in consideration of said sum of £500 paid to him by William Whiston, said John Sharpe at the direction of Samuel Barker mortgaged the said premises to said William, to hold for residue of 200 years, redeemable, with interest, on 9th November following.
(Endorsements) (a) 25 March 1725: Receipt by William Whiston from Samuel Barker of £100 and all interest due upon the mortgage to date.
(b) 28th August 1734: Assignment by William Whiston to Thomas Plaistowe of the Middle Temple, London, gent., Thomas Bassett of Clifford's Inn, London, gent., George Whiston of Lyndon, gent., and John Whiston of St. Dunstan in the West, London, bookseller, of the said premises, to hold for the residue of 200 years, subject the mortgage redemption by Samuel Barker.
