Immediate source of acquisition

The records were deposited by the parish in two accessions. Accession 2692 was received in 1978 and accession 2928 in 1980. Due to the uniting of the two parishes some records relating to Caldecote are to be found amongst the parish records of Denton.

This revised catalogue only contains items deposited by the Church.

Administrative / biographical background

Caldecote is an ancient parish. The parish was united with Denton in 1962. Until 1837 it was within the Diocese of Lincoln; since 1837 it has belonged to the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon, in the diocese of Ely.

The parish was within the Peterborough Poor Law Union 1836-1930; Peterborough Rural Sanitary District 1875-1894; and Norman Cross Rural District 1894-1974. Since 1974 the parish has been within Huntingdonshire District.
