Although within the boundaries of the Solihull education authority, this school was the responsibility of Warwickshire County Council, with finances being shared by the authorities sending children to the school. In 1977 a new purpose-built school for 150 severely mentally handicapped pupils aged 2-19 was built. The school was closed in July 1986 as a result of declining numbers, which had decreased from a peak of 108 in 1979 to 37 in 1985.
