Description (What the record is about)
-
The majority of documents are for buildings in Kent and the earliest is dated 1896 (The Dartford Union Workhouse). Many plans for the 1940s concern property being rebuilt after war damage. Six volumes were also deposited (ledgers and drawings registers).
A number of Ordnance Survey maps were included in the collection and these have been added to the Kent Archive Offices own Ordnance Survey map series where necessary. The series U2724/B3 is stored in Control Centre Map Room
-
Arrangement (Information about the filing sequence or logical order of the record)
-
The original bundles were mostly categorised by date with each bundle usually containing plans from the same decade. The bundles were sorted after being received by the Kent Archives Office into districts (town or village) and then weeded for duplicates. Each district was subsequently divided into categories of building type (see separate index) and the plans were then placed in date order. The main catalogue however is sub-divided by building type first and then district. This means that catalogue numbers do not necessarily follow each other consecutively.
