Bond of Sir Thomas Cawarden in £4000 to Queen Mary I. The condition voiding the obligation is that he 'do continually abide and keep within his dwelling house in ... London' until notified by letters of the Privy Council. An official copy vouched for and signed by Francis Allen. Endorsed in Cawarden's hand: '1556. Recognisance for the remaining in my house prisoner upon the delivery out of the Fleet for the conspiracy'. [presumably the conspiracy of Sir Henry Dudley, early in 1556, to marry Elizabeth to Courtney and place her on the throne; film Fo 322.5]
