- 1799. Case and Opinion. George Ball, Esq. late of Irby, co. Chester, had mortgaged houses in Chester to the Mayor and Sheriffs of the City, as Trustees of the will of Owen Jones. The property was sold to Bertie Entwistle, who held later mortgages of the property. The sums of money secured and the accumulated interest exceeded the value of the property pledged, so that the purchase money would not discharge the mortgage.
