Diary, correspondence and other papers relating to Carey and his travels in Central Asia.
1. Printed 'Letts' diary for 1885 with entries from 25 May 1885 to end of year then at end of diary and continued at front of diary, entries for 1886 up to 19 May, during journey to Chinese, Turkestan.
2. Two letters from John Biddulph to (H.E.M.) James, who set out with Carey in 1884, 2 June and 24 June, giving advice on travel in Central Asia.
3. Four letters from Ney Elias to Carey, 27 September, 13 November 1886, 3 September 1886, 20 March 1886.
4. Letter marked 'Private' from Carey to H.E.M. James, (forwarded by James to H.M. Durand of C.S.I.)
