The war-time correspondence reflects the problems of air-raid trenches 1939 (CR2716/15/295-7); salvage for scrap metal 1941 (CR2716/15/311-16); war-time nursery 1942 (CR2716/15/312-24 et seq.); the difficulties in hiring cleaners because of the high wages obtainable by women in the munitions factories 1942 (CR2716/15/330 et seq.).
