During this period there were the following Master Plans and the development of the original six neighbourhoods �Draft Master Plan of 1946 � �1949 Master Plan - guided the Town's development 1949 - 1954. Plan for 60000 homes � �1955 Master Plan - population of Stevenage only 17,500 by this time. By 1958 it reached 30,000. Plan saw road revisions. Plan was for an increase to 80,000 still within the same Designation Area so a higher population density than Abercrombie envisaged with New Town idea. Pin Green originally planned to have 10,000 inhabitants was replanned in 1960 to have 22,000. � �1961 Draft Master Plan, Leonard G Vincent promoted to chief architect in 1954. Stopped in its tracks by Government as revisions to population growth were considered with predictions for a population 'explosion' in the South East and extreme pressures on London's housing. The Corporation was asked to consider the feasibility of Stevenage growing to a population of around 150,000. The Corporation concluded they would not be
