From time to time, the Board of Management of the Institution established occasional committees and sub-committees to consider particular subjects. Minutes and reports of these committees can sometimes be found with the minutes of the Board of Management but this section contains a volume of minutes for a small number of particular committees: The Provident Sub-Committee (set up in 1936 to 'keep under review the administration of the Provident Department'), Petition for a Private Bill Sub-Committee (set up in 1951 and successfully petitioned for the Governesses Benevolent Institution Act 1952), National Insurance Act Committee (set up in 1946 to consider the effect of the 1946 National Insurance bill on the Institution), Beckenham and Chislehurst Sub-Committee (set up in 1938 to examine specific areas of maintenance at the Ada Lewis homes and Homes for Retired Governesses), Homes Committee (set up in 1949 'to advise the Secretary in all matters relating to the administration and conduct of the Chislehurst and Beckenham Homes and to recommend to the Board any action which might be thought necessary for the improvement and extension of the homes'), Campaign Committee (set up in 1963 to campaign for the rebuilding of Queen Mary Homes), and the Dance Committee (set up in 1964 to orgnise the Institution's annual dance).
