Administrative / biographical background

Court Friendship of the Ancient Order of Foresters Number 765 was founded in 1839. It left the order in 1898 and became the Keyingham Friendly Society but rejoined the Foresters in 1912 as Court Friendship Number 9370. In 1840 there were 37 members, in 1880 433 members and it still exists (2000) with a membership approaching 100. In the early days the society met in the Blue Bell Inn but due to expansion the Foresters Hall was built in 1857 at a cost of £600. The society recruited members from all over South Holderness.
