Gallantry Notes: From "Gallantry Awards to 29 Bn MGC" - Meiklejohn: "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty from 11th to 12th April 1918. On the 11th instant during the fighting around Doulieu whilst in charge of two machine guns attached to the RGLI. He showed great energy and determination in handling his guns, fighting them in an isolated position until both were put out of action and only two of the sub-section remained; later in the afternoon he reported to Lieut Brainand together with L/Cpl Coleshill (89441) manned a gun whose team had been put out of action. He kept his gun in action throughout the day inflicting severe casualties on the enemy.";
