Description

Annual return giving names, ages, occupations, residence with date of initiation or admittance for four members of Alfred Lodge [Moderns], namely Joseph Wild, Theophilus Wild, Thomas Oram and James Peirs. Item AR/982/2 is a note from Christopher Wilson, Provincial Grand Secretary, dated 29 September 1788 informing William White, Grand Secretary, of remittances to the Charity Fund and the Hall Fund from Alfred Lodge.

Administrative / biographical background

Alfred Lodge was granted a warrant by the Moderns' Grand Lodge to meet as No. 433 on 23 December 1780 and it was constituted on 3 February 1781. The Lodge met at the Swan and Talbot Inn, Low Street, Wetherby, Yorkshire. In 1781 the Lodge was renumbered as No. 434 and in 1792 as No. 349. The Lodge was erased on 12 April 1797.
