A manuscript of the romance in Persian 'Karnama~i-ishq' by Rai Anand Ram Mukhlis, written by the scribe Harkulall completed on 25 Safar AH 1148/17 July 1735. Illustrated with 36 contemporary Mughal miniatures. On the flyleaf is a note signed by the author dated AH 1151/AD1738-39 recording that the artist Govardhan took five years to complete the miniatures. On f.7b is a portrait of the Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah with his 'vazir' Itimad ud-Daula Qamaruddin Khan (d.1748), and the author. The author Rai Anand Ram Mukhlis was an eminent Hindu poet who wrote in Persian. The present work, a romance concerning Prince Gauhar and Princess Malikah-i Zamani, was composed in 1731. The author died at Delhi in 1751.
