Under a Charity Commission Scheme of 18 November 1952 a Trust Fund was set up from the income derived from the sale of the premises and furniture of the Institute and Hostel of the Christian Alliance of Women and Girls, which was located at the junction of Regent and Alexandra Roads and is now the Lowestoft School of Art. The trustees were empowered at anytime to use all or part of the money from the fund to provide a building for the use of any organisation, (whether it was a branch of The Young Women's Christian Association of Great Britain, or another organisation with similar objectives), that would benefit the young women and girls of the town of Lowestoft.
Until a building was obtained the income from the endowment could be used to make grants to organisations, (that were established in the town), to use towards the spiritual, intellectual, social and bodily welfare of the young women and girls of Lowestoft.
There does not appear to have ever been enough money to provide a building, so the trust concentrated on making grants to other organisations and individuals until it was wound down on 11 April 1994.
