Description (What the record is about)
-
Letter from James SHADOCKE, [sic] to his father, concerns sums of money that have not been received, due to him from Captain COLBOURNE. Asks to be remembered to John PINE and his wife, all my brothers lawes and sisters lawes (In Wiltshire LAW was used in names of relationship by marriage, without IN. The IN is always omitted i.e. brother law, father law etc, the only exception being son in law, WDD.), and the rest of my friends in general. My son James. Mr Christopher SANFORD and his wife. William REW and his wife. Sergeant CROSS. Hew SILE and his wife. George BECKUM and his wife. I send this letter by a Serjeant who belongs to the company that I am in, and Thomas LONGE, Peter SHERFORD'S brother-law belonging to Captain WILSON in Sir Hardress WALLER'S regiment. Signs: your ever loving son in law, James SHADOCKE.
