Description

Annual returns giving names, professions and residence of members of the Lodge of Harmony [Moderns] and general correspondence relating to the running of the lodge. Years 1772 - 1780, 1782 - 1787 and 1800 - 1802 are not extant.

Administrative / biographical background

The Lodge of Harmony was established in 1771 and met at the Blue Bell Inn, Scotch Street, Carlisle, Cumbria. The lodge was named the Lodge of Harmony in 1779. In 1835 the lodge met at the Crown and Mitre, English Street, Carlisle and the meetings remained there until the lodge was erased. The lodge made its last payments in 1834 and was erased in 1851.
