Ts account (photocopy 79pp) describing: his conscription into the 5th Battalion, The King's Regiment (Liverpool) in 1940, his early training in England, his service overseas as a Private with the 9th Battalion, the Border Regiment, 48th Indian Brigade, 17th Indian Light Division in India (August 1942-November 1943), and in the Kennedy Peak Region of Northern Burma (November 1943-January 1944), his capture and imprisonment in Mandalay and Maymyo (January 1944) and in Rangoon Central Gaol (January 1944-April 1945). The account contains very evocative descriptions of jungle patrols and of the atrocious conditions in Rangoon gaol,
