Plaintiff: Thomas de Ringmere, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory Deforciant: John of Tutsham [in West Farleigh] In the king's court at Westminster before Thomas Welond, Walter de Helyun, John de Lovetot, Roger de Leicester and William de Burnton, justices, and others on 23 Jul 1280. William de Grenehill' is the prior's attorney. Concerning £4 arrears of an annual payment of 20s which John owes to the prior. John acknowledged that henceforth he would pay the 20s in Canterbury Cathedral as specified and he gave 12s for arrears. For this the prior quitclaimed to John for all the losses he had because of this grant up to the day of this agreement. Right of distraint in John's tenement ('tenementum') in Tutsham and West Farleigh, concerning which this agreement is made, if John defaults on the payment. Endorsed with description and 'R E viii' in late 13th cent hands.
