Note: Goathill parish was transferred from Somerset to Dorset with effect from 31 March 1896 for civil purposes, although ecclesiastically it has always been part of the Diocese of Bath and Wells. From 1603 until 1695 the rectors of Goathill were also rectors of Purse Caundle. From 1864 until 1931 the rectorship of Goathill was held by the vicar of Haydon (from 1927, the vicar of Folke with Long Burton, North Wootton and Haydon). Some records relating to Goathill may be found in the Haydon parish archives (PE/ HAY); there are cross-references at the appropriate points in this list. From 1940 the rector of Goathill was also vicar of Milborne Port, Somerset, and the two parishes were formally united in 1965
