Following a 1981 Report compiled by the Board of the Structure Working Party, the World Development Movement Committee of BSR was reconstituted to become the Development Affairs Committee of BSR. Its terms of reference were defined as follows: i, to inform and advise the Board in all matters concerning world development which in the Committee's view require action by the Board or the General Synod ii, to promote and co-ordinate activity within the diocese and parishes of the Church of England in the field of world development. Under the chairmanship of the Bishop of Derby three meetings were held in 1981, during which it was decided that the Committee should not, has had been recommended, be a sub-committee of the International Affairs Committee but should report to the Board itself. Development work remained the main concern of the Committee until 1988, when International Affairs Committee became International Development Affairs Committee. (see BSR/IAC/DEV)
