Present state of development: Total running time to date 363 hours. (b) Engine V.1 suffered a front bearing failure. (c) Engine V.9 has been despatched for flight. Outstanding troubles: 1 Compressor thrust bearing failures; Hoffmann bearing 4989 on V.8; and one Ransome and Marles bearing DHJT 1 5/8J on V.1. Turbine blade failure: Flight engine has suffered a blade failure occurring on a climb at 12,000 rpm at 10,000ft and the engine is being returned for investigation. Mr Slatter.
