Administrative / biographical background

Walter Ogle Fitch, b. 15 July 1897, educated Stoneyhurst School, Leicester. Serving in India during the First World War he returned there after to teach in St. Stephen's College, Delhi from 1923-1927. He was made a Deacon in Lahore Cathedral in 1927 and served at Holy Trinty Church, Turkman Gate, before returning to England in 1928. Joining SSJE as a Postulant in 1936 he became a Novice in January the following year, and was professed on 4 February 1939, leaving for Bombay shortly afterwards.
