Fermanagh, Examing Chaplain to the Bishop of Clogher, by his wife Adelaide, 3rd d. of the late Isaac Wykeham Dickenson, of Abbotsford, Chester & Newry, Co. Down. Born Rahans, Carrickmacross, co. Monaghan, 24/11/1896;educ Campbell College, Belfast;went Canada 1912. Vol for Imp Serv and joined Canadian Forces on outbreak of war. Ret UK Jan 1915, gaz 2Lt R Innisk Fus 6/2/15, Lt 31/3/16. Att MGC Dec 1915; served BEF F&F from March 1916 att 74 MG Coy till Oct. when he was wounded; subs att 111 MG Coy; took part in some of the most severe fighting in 1916, inc Vimy Ridge, and was KIA nr Monchy on Easter Monday 9/4/1917; Buried 1 & 3/4 miles s. of Fenchy, east of Arras. Had just been rec for a permanent commission. His CO wrote "..I personally regret his loss very much as he was one of my best officers and had done excellent work with his section during the time he has been with me. All Officers and men of the 111th Coy deeply regret his death". Unmarried.;
