Description

Collection of photographs, some loose, others on pages removed from an album, formerly belonging to Lieut-Colonel James S. Forbes, Bombay Director of Forbes, Forbes, Campbell & Co Ltd. A large proportion of the prints are uncaptioned. Photographs include views and portraits in Bombay, Mahabaleshwar, Ganeshkhind, Pune, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Barakpur, Calcutta, Dum Dum, Idar, Hyderabad (Sindh), Karachi and Lucknow. Many of the portraits reflect Forbes' participation in riding and field sports, including polo, pig sticking and fox (or jackal) hunting. Process = Gelatin silver prints (?). Photographers = Bourne & Shepherd, Stewart & Son;.
