Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 811. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 204.

For Charles Macintosh & Co. Mill, Manchester. The Catalogue of Old Engines states that this engine was alongside the 20 horse boat engine coded UE bought by Macintosh in 1825 [see Portfolio 5/1066]. Engine Order Book 12 says that this engine was erected in a line with engine UP, which was ordered by Peter Ewart & Co. in 1825 [see Portfolio 5/1068]. In the Catalogue of Old Engines Hazleton lists this engine on p. 204, but on p. 206 allocates the number 1067 to a non-existent 1835 30 horse engine. Macintosh did buy a 30 horse engine, coded LY, in 1837 [see Portfolio 5/1052].
