Two 8 horse power independent crank engines, with 17? inch cylinders, 2½ foot strokes, parallel motions, [cast iron beams, cast iron connecting rods].Reverse side view of the engine and cross-section of the boiler, cross-section of the engine, plan of the engine and boiler, longitudinal section of the boiler (4 drawings on 1 sheet). The drawings bear letter codes.
Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 690. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 224.
For Demerara, ordered by Henry Dyett, late Underwood Dyett & Co. (engine ZCO), and for the Leith Hall Estate, St. Thomas in the East, Jamaica, ordered by Gilbert Matthison of 1 Lime St. Square, London (engine ZCP). Sugar plantation engines. The drawings were made for Dyett's engine and re-used for Matthison's. The Drawing Office Index describes these as 10 horse engines. Henry Hazleton allocated separate portfolio numbers to the engines despite the fact that they did not have separate drawings; Dyett's was Portfolio 902 and Matthison's was Portfolio 903.
