Photographs passed down through depositor's family. Depositor's grandfather, John Edward Washington, was an ironmoulder at the foundry of P.R.Jackson & Co., Hampson Street, Salford. He died aged 34 sometime shortly after the Second World War. For many years he was unable to obtain work at his trade as he had been blacklisted as a union activist. He had a family of thirteen and was a staunch Nonconformist.
