Description

Microfilm copies of the South Yorkshire census enumerators' books for the census of 1881. The census records all persons who spent the night of Sunday 3 April in each household.

Information is given under the following headings:- place or street; houses inhabited/uninhabited; name and surname; relationship to head of household; married/single etc; age male/female; occupation; place of birth; if blind/deaf/dumb etc.

The first number given in each entry is the PRO reference number (e.g. RG.11/3307)

SRD = Superintendent Registrar's District

E.D. = Ecclesiastical District

e.d. = enumeration district

Immediate source of acquisition
