From Mr Francis (in the 3rd person) - seeks a 62-month licence for mineral prospecting in "the lately enclosed Common .. in Manor of Bassenthwaite", stone and slate excepted, "and the benefit of any stream of water within the said Lands"; if a 21 year lease is required of him, offers £20 p.a. certain Royalty rent plus 1/14 of all ore worked; please reply soon; "The Company Connected with him have some of the Iron Mines in this County", 1874
James Thompson (Agent, Brayton) to Mr John Jopson, Chapel House, Borrowdale - present state of the rents, with comments and advice, e.g. "I am not sure about this, however daresay you will be able to make it out". Copy of the 1880 and 1907 rentals on back, as sent to Mr J. Jopson, copy of 1908 original
From Daniel Jopson, 19 St John's Street, Keswick, to "Dear Madam" - enclosing "list of Borrowdale manor rents with the addresses of all who pay"; also "a list of the manor rents from 1880 till 1907 along with letter from the late Mr Jas. Thomson for you to look at", which letter please return, 1932
