Two 50 horse power side lever boat engines for land, with 39½ inch cylinders, 3½ foot strokes.Partially coloured drawings sent by William Bennett to H. H. Birley, Mar. 1836: Plan of the engine house; section of the engine house and shafts showing the levels and gearing by spur wheels; plan of the engine house and shafts showing gearing with bevel gear (this drawing is on the reverse of a letter from William Bennett to H. H. Birley at Aston Hall dated Manchester, 24 Mar. 1836).
Drawings copied from originals by Wren & Bennett, Apr. 1836: plan of the engine and boiler houses showing shafts, river Medlock etc.; longitudinal section of the boiler house showing shafts, part of mill etc.
Partially coloured reverse side view of engine and plan of tunnel, plan of the engine and boiler houses; nozzles - coloured original drawing; cross-section of the engine and boiler houses - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings; shafts and cranks etc. - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings; longitudinal section of boiler - reverse drawing; pump and gearing for raising waste water, main gudgeon and plummer block, governor and gearing - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings. All these drawings bear letter codes.
Also pump for delivering hot water back to the Medlock - 2 sheets of plans and sections showing the pump in situ etc., copied from drawings by Wren & Bennett; unmarked sketch of part of premises; plan of the mills showing engine houses, rooms of the mill, river Medlock etc. (plan by Wren & Bennett?).Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 900.
