Description

Folios 294-295. Draft letter from the Local Government Board, to Charles Wright, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union. They acknowledge receipt of his letter of 16 December 1879 concerning, the proposed sale of the interest of the parishes of Bawdeswell, Billingford, Bylaugh, Foxley and Sparham, in certain land and premises situated in the parish of Bawdeswell in the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union and also the enclosed letter from E B Pomeroy on the subject. They state, with reference to the remarks made in the second and third paragraphs of Pomeroy's letter, that they have been given to understand that it is particular that the interest of the parishes in the property is worth nothing and that there will be nothing to be repaid to the treasurer of the union. They assume that the guardians will only be made parties to the conveyance of the property in order to convey whatever interest of the parishes there may be outstanding. The direction in the order that the purchase money should be paid to the treasurer was inserted in accordance with the Board's invariable practice.in this instance until a sale has been actually effected and the form of conveyance has been settled it is impossible to decide whether or not the directing is necessary or whether any exceptional forms will be required.
