Description

Mortgage and Further Charge

i) William King, Langford, wheelwright

ii) William Brown, Biggleswade, gentleman reciting deed of 24 July 1867 and made between i) and ii) - copyhold 1stly and 2ndly hereinafter described were covenanted to be surrendered by i) to use of ii) according to custom of Manor of Holme with Langford to be void on payment by i) of £100 to ii) with interest of 5% p.a.

The property was surrendered the same day

By deed of 1 July 1868 between i) and ii) freehold lands hereinafter described were granted to use of ii) subject to redemption on payment of £290 (i.e. said £100 plus a further £190) and interest at 5%. Said copyhold premises were further charged with securing the repayment of the £190

By a Memorandum of Surrender of 1 July 1870 i) surrendered copyhold premises 3rdly described, also held of the Manor of Holme with Langford, to use of ii) to secure repayment of £210 and interest at 5% p.a.

Said principal sums are still owing but all interest has been paid

Said surrenders of 24 July 1867 and 1 July 1870 have not been filed with steward of said Manor and it is now considered that steward has right to decline the same.

And whereas i) has agreed to lend ii) a further £100 (total now owing - £600)

Now in consideration of £100 paid by ii) to i)

i) grants to ii)- 3 cottages (formerly one) - 3 newly erected cottages in Flexmore End in Langford, formerly in occupation of Thomas Kemp, John Hills and Thomas Clark, late of said Thomas Kemps, William Potton and Robert Clarke and now of John Larman, William Potton and John Dilley, and which, or the site therof, was purchased by i) from James Capon to use of ii) for ever provided that if i) on 25 March next pay £600 to ii) with interest at 5% p.a., then premises reconveyed to i)

Also i) covenants with ii) to surrender into the hands of the Lord of the Manor of Holme with Langford - plot of ground containing 40p in Langford being part of an estate described as 'an old cottage or tenement lying in Flexmore End' called a rood of pasture being the east ward end of same estate and containing a stud built and slated cottage now used as 2 tenements late occupied by John Crosley and now -

N copyhold, sold by Edward Bensley, gardener, to Charles Dalton

S late William Cooper and since William Thody

E Flexmore End Lane to which i) was admitted tenant on 25 March 1867 on the surrender of Edward Bensley - site of 2 cottages etc with privy on east side, situate at Langford, as lately occupied by ii) and John Cooper and now of - front (next the street) 33 ft 6ins on the west at back or east sides (next the garden late of Clarissa Chapman and Anna Maria Chapman) 30ft

In depth from W to East (next the yard of the Chapmans in occupation of Mr George Oliver on north) 68ft to which i) was admitted tenant on 25 March 1867 on surrender of Clarissa and Anna Maria Chapman - 2 tenements and cottages, now used as a beer house erected on last described premises in occupation of -

- piece of land in Langford lying eastward of 3 cottages belonging to i) and Alfred Cleaver and separated therefrom by a lane leading to Flexmore End (2a 1r 1p)(formerly described as 2åa) and allotted at the enclosure to William Edwards in lieu of 3r arable in common fields, and held of Lord of Manor at yearly rent of 4d said land was formerly in occupation of William Edwards and then of Charles Wells. To which i) was admitted on surrender of Clarissa and Anna Maria Chapman on 3 June 1870 to use of ii), subject to redemption as before
