This collection mainly comprises love letters between Able (later Leading) Seaman Wallace Tivey and Gwendoline Heath.

These records were deposited in November 1996.

Administrative / biographical background

The couple met in 1943 and corresponded for the duration of War. They were married in December 1944. Wallace Tivey was demobbed in 1946 after the defeat of Japan. The couple set up home in Melbourne, Derbyshire and were married for 47 years. Both died in 1991.
